Ce n’est pas nouveau, la scène australienne s’est montrée particulièrement créative depuis quelques années : Empire of the Sun, Tame Impala, Flume, Flight Facilities, New Navy, Cadillac…et Jagwar Ma.
Le trio basé à Sydney sort aujourd’hui son premier (et très attendu) album, « Howlin ». Au menu : rock, electro, ambiance psychédélique.

Parmi les 3 titres originaux de leur 3ème EP « No Apologies », sur lequel on retrouve la voix de Clara la chanteuse du groupe La Femme, on aime tout particulièrement « Love Suicide » et sa basse très entraînante.

Happy Mondays #41 – Footprintz « Dangers Of The Mouth »

« Escape Yourself« , premier et excellent album du duo montréalais Footprintz, figurera à coup sûr dans notre top album 2013.

Sa sortie sur le label Visionquest courant mars est l’occasion de revenir sur le titre Dangers of the Mouth, sorti il y a quelques temps en maxi. Certains noteront une influence de Depeche Mode avec Enjoy the Silence.

« Escape Yourself« , first and excellent album from Montreal-based act Footprintz, will belong for sure to our top ten LP’s of the year.

Its release on the label Visionquest back in March offers a good occasion to come back on our favorite track, Dangers of the Mouth, unveiled a little while ago as an EP. Some will undoubtedly perceive influences from Depeche Mode with Enjoy the Silence.

Happy Mondays #40 – Toro Y Moi « Rose Quartz »

Entre chillwave et electro, le dernier album de Chaz Bundick aka Toro y Moi, sorti en février dernier sur le label Carpark Records, devrait faire parler de lui tout au long de l’année 2013.

Notre coup de coeur (difficile de choisir cependant) : Rose Quartz.

Happy Mondays #39 – James Blake « Digital Lion »

Après un premier album éponyme acclamé, le jeune (25 ans) prodige britannique James Blake reviendra le 8 avril prochain avec un nouvel opus, Overgrown, sur le label Republic.

D’ici là, voici un nouvel extrait, Digital Lion, qui fait suite à Retrograde; le morceau est produit avec l’un des pionniers de la musique électronique, Brian Eno.

After a first acclaimed eponymous LP, the 25-year-old brit producer James Blake will strike back on April 8th with his new LP Overgrown, on the label Republic.

In the meantime, here is a the second single unveiled, Digital Lion, after the previous one, Retrograde; the track has been produced with electronic music legend, Brian Eno.

Cela fait déjà quelques mois que le plus frenchie des producteurs britanniques, David Shaw, fait parler de lui sous son véritable nom, après avoir oeuvré plusieurs années sous le pseudo de Siskid.

Nouveau nom de scène et nouveau projet, avec un univers moins électro et plus pop rock/new wave.
L’album « So It Goes » , sorti fin octobre, succède aux maxis « Infected » et « The Jackal » sur le label de l’artist, Her Majesty’s Ship.

Nous avons choisi de vous faire découvrir le groovy « Trance in Mexico » , que l’on peut entendre en ce moment dans les sets de Get A Room notamment.

Happy Mondays #24 – Alt-J (∆) « Something Good »

Certains évoquent les nouveaux « Radiohead » ; d’autres parlent clairement de l’album de l’année (Mercury award le 2 novembre dernier, voir l’article). Le quatuor de Leeds Alt-J (∆) (raccourci clavier pour dessiner un triangle sous Mac, ndlr) ne laisse pas indifférent. Ils réussissent sur leur album « An Awesome Wave » un mélange inédit de hip hop, d’électro, de rock et de country.

Comme le titre Tessellate est déjà assez connu, voici le clip d’un autre morceau addictif de l’album, Something Good.
